powertex (finally)

I have finally cracked the seal on the bottle of powertex i bought back in Scotland!

I had an idea surrounding Easter and making a nest with a large egg in it, i wanted to combine the powertex with another technique i had fallen in love with, but you know what they say about the best laid plans etc...........................

So here is my project minus the egg!!

Once the project was dry i lightly dry brushed some colour on using my finabair opal magic paints, the light is poor here today so they dont show very well. I would like to link up to the PaperArtsy blog for their fabric medium challenge

A Fabulous Weekend

Last weekend i was lucky enough to get to tick the final artist of my 'bucket list' . When my friend Sue, who runs fabulous classes at Art Workshops asked for suggestion of who she could get over to teach i had no hesitation in recommending Marta Lapowska http://artistycrafty.blogspot.co.uk/

funnily enough Sue had already been in contact with her so my fate was sealed!

I have long been a stalker of Marta and her fabulous creations and i was very excited by the prospect of actually having lessons from her.

We started on Friday night with a journal page, now these would be the last colours i would ever choose to work with but i still love the outcome

Saturday we made an altered book,

and a couple of pages inside

Sunday was about the 'small art' and i actually took a few in progress photos

then add a bit of colour (again not my favourite but now i have some of Finnabair new paints i may try it again in colours that are more me)
And finally there is a scrap book page that i have somehow managed to relocate to someone elses house, but here it is in progress
the plan is to put this lovely little face on it
i may have made a few purchases while i was there too, but some of it was a belated birthday present too so its not as bad as it looks, honestly
So finally thanks to /Sue for organising another fabulous weekend and thanks to the lovely Marta for being so encouraging

Play Days

Last week i was lucky enough to be able to go over to stay with my friend Sam for a couple of days so i could play with all her craft goodies (oh and Fraz of course!).

in no particular order;

i tried different mixes of mediums and primary elements to see which gave me the closest finish to an actual silk

I then moved on to play with the gelli plate, there wasn't enough room to get the big one out so i just used the smaller one

For some reason i have been quite scared of using mine (it hasn't been out of the packet), i then tried it with some metallic paints

Then i had a play with some shaving foam and ink, i think Sam found it very odd that i hadn't done this before

i then made some tags

and finally i did some cracking! AND IT WORKED!!!

Its my anniversary tomorrow so there is another heart that i did but its already wrapped up for Hubby. I had a great time and thanks to Sam for having me, if you want to see more pics then check out Sams blog.

Mediums

Over on the PaperArtsy blog this month the theme is mediums, i, like a lot of people i imagine, have lots of tubs of 'stuff' sitting on my craft desk that i don't really know what to do with! Well Leandra has kindly made a couple of You Tube videos demonstrating different ways to use them so i thought i would give it a go.

I started out by using various gels through a stencil onto waxed paper then spraying with Lindy's stamp gang sprays, these results varied quite a lot depending on the product used but the effect i got with 3D matt gel was my favourite, i used this piece to die cut the dragonfly out of as the colours reminded me of a dragonfly's wings.

I used one of the other sample pieces, which was clear gesso through a stencil and sprayed onto deli paper, as part of my background, tearing pieces off and sticking them down. i then dripped more sprays over the top and added some treasure gold to the raised areas. The sentiment id from hot pick 1507.

Hope you like it

Shiny Stuff

This started as a very dark blue and green background i had done some time ago, whilst browsing Pintrest i came across a post by Julie Balzer and really liked the finished article, you can see it here.

I covered the pages with a couple of thin coats of gesso, the original colours still showed through a bit but that didn't matter, i stamped with vintage photo and also rubbed the ink over the page. i then created a horizon with gesso which i made sure had lots of texture in it, then came the inky bit, used 2 colours of spray inks, letting them run down the page,

The 'skyline' was created with little black dress paint, and then the raised gessoed areas were highlighted with treasure gold, i added some stamping and a sentiment.

I would like to enter this into the PaperArtsy competition

Ellen Vargo tag book

Over at the PaperArtsy blog there has been some fabulous yumminess this week! I was tempted to have a go at the 'burnt tin' but given my track record i thought i could end up injuring myself!

I decided to have a go at the tag book (much safer) instead,

These are my 3 tags pages and here is a pic of them all together

I would like to enter this into this week PaperArtsy challenge

Gelato playtime

Back in March my good friend Sam was kind enough to bring me back a set of gelatos from America, to be honest i was a bit scared of them, until Sam said i had to stop being daft, they were just crayons!!

So i thought i would have a play with them in my journal, i gessoed the page first then blended the colours with my fingers, i used the gold one to add a bit of shimmer too. I then stamped the Lynne Perrella script in plum archival randomly on the page. I coloured a separate piece of card with coordinating gelatos then stamped the main image (Lynne Perella again) onto it, i added some accents with a posca pen, the saying is a Wendy Vechi one.
